Good morning, all, Due to an exceptionally busy Bank Holiday weekend and a number of significant incidents across the area, I felt it would be appropriate to provide the community with a brief update on recent policing activity. Series of Burglaries – Faldingworth and Market Rasen Area
A significant number of burglaries were reported overnight between 1st and 2nd September in the Faldingworth and Market Rasen areas. At present, we have received reports of offences occurring on Jubilee Avenue, Stocks Lane, Hutton Way and Spridlington Road.
Following a prompt call from a member of the public during one of the incidents, officers were able to swiftly deploy a significant policing response to the area. Through tenacious searches, officers located a suspect hiding beneath a parked vehicle and recovered a quantity of suspected stolen property.
The 39-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft and remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
As residents become aware of missing property or discover damage, additional burglary reports are being received. Officers are actively investigating all incidents and carrying out further enquiries to establish any links between them. Burglary – Brigg Road, Moortown
On 1st September, officers received reports of a burglary at a storage unit on Brigg Road, Moortown, which occurred during the early hours of the morning.
Enquiries remain ongoing and, at this stage, there is nothing to suggest that this incident is linked to the series of burglaries reported in the Faldingworth area. Burglary – Fox & Hound Inn, Willingham by Stow
During the early hours of 1st September, four males forced entry into the Fox & Hound Inn and stole a gaming machine.
Following observations provided regarding a suspected vehicle, officers quickly deployed and located a vehicle matching the description. The vehicle failed to stop for police and was eventually brought to a stop in Retford.
Although the vehicle was subsequently found not to be linked to the burglary, officers discovered a significant quantity of cannabis within it, and appropriate action has been taken.
The stolen gaming machine was later located in Marton and has been recovered for forensic examination. Enquiries remain ongoing to identify those responsible. Attempted Burglary – Lincoln Road, Ingham
A resident on Lincoln Road reported hearing someone attempting to gain entry to her property during the early hours of the morning on the 1st of September.
The occupant quickly came downstairs, switched on the lights and made her presence known, causing the offender to flee the scene.
Subsequent examination revealed that an attempt had been made to gain entry through lock snapping. Enquiries remain ongoing, and officers are keeping an open mind as to whether this incident is linked to other burglaries reported overnight. Burglary – Bishop Norton Road, Glentham
Late on the evening of 31st August, offenders were disturbed by landowners whilst committing a burglary at a property on Bishop Norton Road.
The offenders used vehicles to force entry through electric gates, causing significant damage before gaining access to a barn. Enquiries are continuing. Theft of Trailer – Moortown/Nettleton
A burglary occurred overnight on 30th August in the Moortown/Nettleton area, during which an Ifor Williams trailer was stolen.
Enquiries remain ongoing to identify those responsible and recover the stolen property. Discovery of Unexploded Ordnance – Cherry Willingham
On 30th August, officers attended an address on Fiskerton Road, Cherry Willingham, following the discovery of two unexploded World War Two ordnance devices stored within a residential garage.
Acting on the advice of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialists, neighbouring properties were evacuated whilst assessments and enquiries were conducted.
The devices were subsequently transported to Nettleham Police and Fire Headquarters, where a controlled explosion was safely carried out.
I would like to thank local residents for their patience, understanding and cooperation while this incident was safely resolved. Robbery – Post Office, Ropery Road
On 28th August, officers responded to a robbery at the Post Office on Ropery Road.
A male entered the premises with his face concealed by a scarf and stole the till.
Enquiries remain ongoing to identify and locate the offender. Speed Enforcement – Morton Terrace, Gainsborough
On 28th August, PCSOs carried out speed enforcement activity on Morton Terrace, Gainsborough.
The operation proved productive, resulting in two road traffic offences being reported and one uninsured vehicle being seized.
One vehicle was recorded travelling at 57mph in a 30mph zone, while a second vehicle was recorded travelling at 46mph in a 30mph zone.
I am sure the community will agree that speeds of this nature are significantly above the legal limit and present an unacceptable risk to other road users and pedestrians.
My team remains committed to tackling road safety concerns, and further speed enforcement activity is planned, particularly once our newer PCSOs have completed their tutoring phase and are fully operational within the community.
